handchirurgie münster
Hand surgery is work on tendons, nerves and the smallest joints, and anyone coming to the practice is looking, above all, for trust. We drew a mark that shows precision without depicting a single instrument: five bars you read as a hand. By the same rule, the foot stands right beside it.

Medical marks like to show what happens: scalpel, bone, cross. Someone arriving with an injured hand does not need to see any of that.
This mark says at once what it is about, and stays calm while doing it. On the business card just as in a sports hall.
Five vertical bars, equally wide, equally spaced, only their length changes. The eye turns them into a hand, long fingers in the middle, shorter ones at the sides. No outline, no anatomy, nothing that recalls an operation.
The name sits beside it in lower case. The symbol speaks first, the word confirms.
- 01 / 04Five bars make a hand. Equally wide, only different in length: long fingers in the middle, shorter ones at the sides. The eye fills in the rest, no X-ray required.
- 02 / 04Even gaps keep it calm. The same space sits between all the bars; only the lengths change. That keeps the mark clear, even in the smallest print.
- 03 / 04All by the same hand. The dot on the i is almost exactly as wide as a bar. So symbol and name are, quite literally, by the same hand.
- 04 / 04Speciality first, then place. The outer bars stand on the baseline, with münster below in a much lighter weight. You read first what the practice is for, then where.

Foot surgery does not need a second logo, it needs a sibling. Stroke, spacing, colour and typeface stay; only the lengths of the bars and one word change.
You recognise both as family at once. And the family has room for more specialities.
- 01 / 03The grid is the real mark. Five bars, equally wide, equally spaced. This framework stays put when a second speciality arrives, and it holds the family together.
- 02 / 03The hand becomes a foot. Within the same grid only the lengths change, and the bars rise towards the right. The word hand becomes fuß, and everything else stays where it was.
- 03 / 03Siblings, not twins. Side by side, you see at once that both belong to the same practice, and just as quickly which mark means which speciality.
The symbol gets a light tone that steps back kindly. The name gets a deep one that holds it steady.
One typeface in two weights is enough: bold for the speciality, hair-thin for the place.
- 01 / 02One typeface, two volumes. Speciality and place are set in the same typeface at the same size; only the stroke tells them apart. What you are looking for stands bold, where you find it stands fine.
- 02 / 02Two tones, two jobs. The hand may be friendly, the name has to land. So each wears the tone that suits its job.
Hand and foot got their biggest stage on a three-metre courtside banner for the hall of a second-tier volleyball club. In the middle of match day, the calm bars feel like a moment to catch your breath.
It is the same drawing as on the business card, measure for measure, only bigger.
- 01 / 04Three metres for two marks. The two specialities one above the other, next to them the centre’s name with its address. Anyone sitting in the hall sees first what the practice stands for.
- 02 / 04Bigger doesn’t mean blunter. The proportions stay the same at every size. Not one bar has to be redrawn for the hall.
- 03 / 04A fine outline adds weight. The letters get a narrow outline. Seen from the stands, the slender type looks bolder without losing its shape.
- 04 / 04Hand over foot, on one edge. Both marks start at the same edge and stand at the same size. Once you have found the hand, you find the foot below without looking.
