Backup Suisse · BS Health Group
Backup Suisse AG kept data safe for hospitals, medical practices, pharmaceutical and medical technology companies, for decades. Offer that, and what you are really selling is trust. So we built a mark in which data storage, Swiss cross and name grow into a single block. When the company became BS Health Group, the mark simply grew with it.

Patient data has to stay secure and complete for decades, longer than any server it sits on today. Whoever hospitals trust with that has to radiate permanence before saying a word about technology.
So: a presence that says at a glance what Backup Suisse does and where it comes from. Keeping data safe, with Swiss care.
Two images everyone knows: the stack of discs that stands for data storage, and the Swiss cross. They don’t sit next to the name, they grow into it. The storage stack ends where the B begins.
The lettering is strong and clear, without ornament. As precise and steady as you’d want anyone looking after your data to be.
- 01 / 04A storage stack, halved down its axis. The discs show only their left half; the right disappears behind the B. The letter becomes part of the storage, and the name begins right in the middle of the product.
- 02 / 04As tall as the type. The stack runs exactly from baseline to cap height. It doesn’t stand next to the name, it belongs to the line. The eye reads both in one go.
- 03 / 04One gap holds it all together. Between the discs, around the circle, before the B: the same narrow gap everywhere. The mark looks milled from a single block, as solid as the casing it depicts.
- 04 / 04Five squares, one promise. The Swiss cross is built from five equal squares. It stands in front, where the eye starts, and says where the security comes from.
A narrow edge runs across business card, letterhead and envelope. It splits exactly above the gap between storage stack and letter. So the logo reaches all the way to the margin, and every sheet signs itself.
For small spaces there is the short form BS with the same prefix. No further decoration required.
- 01 / 03The name on the front, nothing else. The front belongs to the brand alone. Whoever receives the card reads first what the company stands for, then who represents it.
- 02 / 03The edge splits at the gap. A two-colour edge runs along the top. The colour change sits exactly above the gap between storage stack and B. The mark reaches all the way to the edge of the paper.
- 03 / 03On the back, the split moves along. On the back the short form sits top right, and the edge follows it to a tenth of a millimetre. One rule for every new sheet: wherever the logo is, the edge splits.

Storage stack and cross can go in front of any name. So the archiving service SMAS carries the same mark as the company and is still a product in its own right.
The brochure shows both: the brand on the front, the product on the back, and inside, the cross marks every advantage. You know what it’s about before you’ve read the first sentence.

Long-term archiving is invisible as long as it works. For the website we drew the route the data takes: from every system in a hospital, over a secure network, into mirrored data centres.
The graphics speak the brand’s language: storage is a cylinder, security is a cross. Know the logo and you understand the graphic. And vice versa.
- 01 / 04Every piece of data a hospital holds. Radiology images, scanned records, in-house systems, email. Every source is a cylinder, built like the storage stack in the logo.
- 02 / 04One server collects and sorts. Inside the hospital, a server takes everything in and encrypts it. It carries the brand’s mark, because this is where Backup Suisse begins.
- 03 / 04Nothing leaves the building unencrypted. The way out runs through a secure network. The cross sits exactly where trust is needed and says, without words, who vouches for it.
- 04 / 04Backed up twice, in two countries. The data is mirrored in data centres in Germany and Switzerland. What would otherwise take a page of text, you take in at a glance.
Backup Suisse grew beyond data backup, into BS Health Group with medical technology and digital patient education. For a group like that, a storage stack in the mark is too small.
So we built on rather than replaced. New name, new image in the mark, letterheads for two countries, a stamp. And the edge still splits exactly where the name begins.
- 01 / 03The initials already carry the brand. In small spaces Backup Suisse appeared as BS, with storage stack and cross in front. These initials became the name of the group. Now they carry more than data backup.
- 02 / 03The storage stack bows out, the cross stays. A group for medicine and health is more than an archive. The storage stack goes, the cross moves up to the B and gains a corner. Now it stands on the baseline like a letter.
- 03 / 03The split moves with the name. Next to BS now sits Health Group, set quietly. The edge splits above the H, by the same rule as it did above the B. New name, same stance.
